Abstract

Twin lead weights found in Caesarea are unusual in that they are inscribed in Latin.
However, colonial coins of the city provide useful comparisons for the reconstruction of
the inscriptions on these weights. This is the first piece of evidence so far for the use of
Latin on objects of this kind in the area of Palestine during the Roman period.
