Abstract

Before the twenty-first century, descriptions of the oldest Samarian coins necessarily relied upon visual examinations of worn or incomplete specimens. The subsequent use of enlarged high-resolution images to analyze Samarian coins of the Achemenid period has now enabled this researcher to suggest a new interpretation of the obverse design of one hemiobol of the series.
