A Neglected Source for the Death of Badr al-Jamālī, the Elevation to the Vizierate of al-Afḍal, and the Highly Contentious Succession to the Fatimid Imam-Caliph al-Mustanṣir

Abstract

The History of the Patriarchs of the Copic Church contains an account written by a contemporary of the events surrounding the highly disputed succession to the Fatimid imam-caliph al-Mustanṣir. It provides some important details concerning what happened that were not previously recognized and have not been discussed in earlier scholarship.
