Abstract

The subject of Coptic art has been thoroughly discussed within the context of its placement in churches. With the recent global pandemic, however, new insights have arisen regarding the role of the image in domestic worship spaces within the Coptic community, as well as the understanding of liturgical art in “extra-liturgical” contexts. This paper aims to explore the role of worship spaces among Coptic Christians in their homes from antiquity to the present, examining these spaces in light of COVID-19.
