Egyptian Diglossia and Bilingualism in Roman and Byzantine Period

This paper provides an overview of various theories related to bilingualism and diglossia. It examines linguistic developments throughout Egypt’s history, with particular emphasis on the Roman and Byzantine periods, and explores Coptic documents that incorporate multiple languages.
