Abstract
This article explores two key aspects: the spatial and temporal dimensions of the commemoration of Saints Apollo and Epip. Their veneration originated in Middle Egypt, at the site of the renowned Monastery of Bawit, before being introduced to Lower Egypt, specifically in Scetis. This devotion began in the sixth century and continued until the late nineteenth century, spanning more than a thousand years. By analyzing the available sources—liturgical texts, icons, and wall paintings—we can trace the evolution of this longstanding veneration.
